They are very nice to us at Newsarama, but the kids would rather argue about Firestorm.

Them's breaks.

Nate and Jacon and I went to Chicago.  You can read my version of events here.

Also, you wouldn't know this since no one on the internet mentioned it, but 24seven came out a few weeks ago, featuring a story by Nate and me, as well as stories by many other people way more famous and talented than we are.  You should go pick it up from your LCS.  It's got a hot, pink Adam Hughes cover.  Enjoy.

First off: thanks for the resounding wave of replies we got on the request for Greek help (not actually any replies; I was administering the soothing salve of sarcasm to cool the wound of your non-help).

Second: Nate neglected to mention this, but you should pick up the 25 cent Hack/Slash preview that hit shops today, or yesterday if you're Canadian.  It previews the new Hack/Slash: Slice Hard, which hits some time or other and features more art from your favorite two-headed Loaded Bible beast, Nark Belleglert.  It's only a quarter!  You can't afford not to buy it!

So that same Greek website that called SCR so boring has reviewed Hector and given us 2 out of 5...shrimps or something.

My modern Greek is muy pobre, so if you can translate this review for me, please, please drop me an e-mail at benito [at] fetorpse [dot] org.

Yeah, it's been a little while since I've updated, but considering that no one is probably reading this, I figure that's okay. Also, it felt kind of lame having nothing to report but more reviews of our book. That said, that's what I'm going to do anyway.

ComicCritique.com gives us 5 out of 5 stars:

www.comiccritique.com

Roberson's Interminable Ramble is also v. kind:

www.chrisroberson.net

About Heroes gives us an A:

www.aboutheroes.com

Silver Bullet likes it, but honestly could have spare another bullet:

www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com

Broken Frontier is contractually obligated to like us:

www.brokenfrontier.com

Fanboy Review gave us a 9/10:

www.fanboyreview.com

Pop Thought reviews us kindly, and then right underneath doesn't like Nate's other book, Loaded Bible, quite as much (Nate is okay with this):

www.popthought.com

Oh, here's something that's not a review.  This is my new favorite thing.  A guy wants to be Hector in an RPG.

forums.white-wolf.com

One step closer to my goal of having my own cosplayers!  (My secondary goal is finding some Teddy/Edison slash somewhere.)

All these nice words, and somehow I still have terminally low self esteem.

Off to cry into my Chef Boyardee.

Tschüss!

We got interviewed by the awesome Chris Arrant at Newsarama.

If you want to see a bunch of dudes blisteringly lukewarm about our book, click this link:

06/09/06 -- Hey, guys, how's it going? I hope this update finds you well.

I thought I'd share a few more reviews with you, because there are still a few square inches of my back not covered in pats.

Comics review heavy hitter Don MacPherson calls Hector the best book of the week, totally dominating Civil War: Frontline (It's okay, I know you bought Frontline instead; that's cool).

www.thefourthrail.com

Comics Should Be Good indicate that we have met that criterion:

Comicreaders.com read it and hoped to read more:

www.comicreaders.com

IGN read it too.  They say pass on it.

media.comics.ign.com

I say believe who you choose to believe.  But I say choose to believe The Fourth Rail.

Anyway, we still love you IGN, even though you wish poverty on us.

And most of all, we love you, the reader, even though I doubt many people are reading these updates.

But if you're there and you love us, please be sure to drop us a line at postmortem at fetorpse dot org.

We are reading all your mail, and everything will be replied to in the order it was received.

Hugs,

06/07/06 -- Hector Plasm: De Mortuis in fine adventure serial wholesalers around the globe.

Some fine people have some fine things to say about our new book, millennia in the making:

Augie DeBlieck enjoys it, saying:

"What inspired me was its manic energy, its seat-of-the-pants storytelling, the crazy situations, and the attitude it conveys. For a book that's so often laid back, there are moments of intensity and fearlessness that make me a fan of it. I admire its guts."

He subsequently put it on his podcast's top ten books of the week list.

Stumblebum Studios says we're doing a heck of a job, Brownie:

"Seriously, Benito Cereno and Nate Bellegarde have knocked it out of the park with this book. If they’re not one of the next big creative teams in the industry I’ll eat my hat. "

It makes Brian K. Vaughan's list of top five reads for the week.

And Intarwub Jesus Warren Ellis demands that you buy it.

No negative reviews yet, but the day is still young.

xo,
